Hello! My name is Aimee, and I am the creator behind Miss Aimee’s Adventure.

I have had the privilege of being a school counselor for 10+ years now! A majority of my experience is with K-8 students in suburban schools. My caseloads have ranged from 1200 students to 300. I love being a school counselor because I get to support students in learning new skills, gain confidence, and make school a safe and enjoyable place to be. Being  a school counselor has also allowed me to support teachers in this work, and I have always loved partnering with teachers in meeting their needs as well as student needs in creative and effective ways.

To become a school counselor, I first obtained my undergraduate degree in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. I immediately went on to earn my masters in Professional School Counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato. After practicing as a school counselor for a few years, I returned to Minnesota State University, Mankato to earn my specialist degree in Educational Leadership: K-12 Principal.

Outside of being a school counselor, I am a mother to 3 awesome kids! They keep me plenty busy, but when I snag a bit of self care I am usually reading, working out, doing crafts (learning to embroider right now!) or hanging out with friends and family.

Miss Aimee's Adventure started as a dream to support teachers and students in schools.

Why and how should I support teachers & counselors?!

Through my years in education I have seen that our teachers and counselors do not have access or time to create engaging, creative, and effective social and emotional learning opportunities for our students.  Our teachers already have a heavy workload meeting the academic needs our kids while balancing required meetings, preparing each lesson for our students, grading, and collaborating with parents and guardians. And our counselors are typically swamped with meeting the immediate emotional and behavioral needs of our students, attending meetings to advocate for student needs, collaborating with parents and guardians, connecting with teachers and administrators in meeting student needs, writing 504 plans, and so much more. Teachers and counselors also are not given tools to implement tier 2 or 3 behavior and social & emotional interventions for students. They need additional support! And quality resources are one way that I can support them in their work. By doing supporting teachers and counselors, I am supporting students!

Thanks for joining me on this adventure!
